This one stings, but sometimes you just have to tip your cap.

For a half, Virginia was right there. Up one at the break, competing on every possession, playing the kind of game that felt like it could tilt our way. Kymora Johnson and Paris Clark kept us steady, and it felt like if we could just string together a few stops, a few more rebounds, and a few more makes from deep, we might be the ones moving on.

Then TCU hit another level.

A 7-0 run to open the third quarter flipped the game, and from there it felt like we were chasing. They shot over 50% for the game, had multiple players go off, and every time Virginia tried to cut into it, TCU had an answer. That’s what good teams do when they’re rolling.

Still, this group never quit. Even late, they kept fighting, cut it to six with under 30 seconds left, and forced TCU to close it out at the free throw line. No panic, no folding — just effort all the way through the final possession.

That’s what makes this team easy to be proud of.

This season wasn’t supposed to look like this. It turned into something more because of how hard they played, how they stayed together, and how they competed night after night. Kymora Johnson continues to show she’s a star, Paris Clark brought it on both ends, and players like Romi Levy and SamyYa Smith did whatever was needed to keep this team in fights.

TCU was just too much tonight. Too hot, too efficient, and too good in that third quarter stretch.

But this Virginia team? They never stopped swinging. And that’s a season worth appreciating.
