As Virginia Football prepares to open the season this Saturday at home, fans can expect more than just a new roster between the lines. From new food options and transportation improvements to upgrades in stadium technology and entertainment, UVA Athletics is focused on delivering a better gameday experience — for fans of all ages.

“There’s no silver bullet to making gameday perfect for everyone,” said Eric Ward, Executive Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs. “But the goal is to keep moving forward, investing in the areas that matter most, and making sure there’s something for fans from age 7 to 77.”

Concessions Get an Upgrade

Concessions continue to be one of the biggest priorities inside Scott Stadium — and this year, fans will see meaningful changes. UVA brought in Aramark’s Sports & Entertainment division, a group that specializes in stadium operations and understands what fans expect on gameday. That means better quality, better service, and better variety.

Expect new vendors, improved ingredients, and faster service. A Chick-fil-A truck will be stationed on the east side of the stadium, a new wine bar experience will debut in partnership with local vineyards, and more beer portables are being added to reduce lines and wait times.

“They’ve really invested,” said Ward. “Their team understands how game day works — it’s not just about food, it’s about flow.”

Getting to the Game, Made Easier

Another improvement fans will notice this year is enhanced transportation support from the parking lots to the stadium. More shuttle buses will be running before and after the game, designed to make it easier and faster for fans to arrive and depart.

“It’s all about removing friction,” Ward said. “Whether that’s getting to your seat or finding your way from parking — every small improvement matters.”

Wi-Fi Is On the Radar

One long-term project UVA continues to evaluate is in-stadium Wi-Fi. While it won’t be ready this season, it remains a top priority for future investment. Like many older stadiums, Scott Stadium presents challenges when it comes to building the infrastructure for a strong, reliable signal across all seating areas.

“It’s a seven-figure investment,” said Ward. “And it’s something that touches every corner of the stadium. It’s not quick or easy, but we know how important it is.”

Listening to the Fans – Even About the Music

Improving gameday isn’t just about food or tech — it’s also about atmosphere. And yes, that even includes music. Feedback about the stadium playlist is constant. Some fans want more hype music, others prefer old-school hits. UVA’s Ward hears all of it and works to strike a balance.

“Some people say there’s too much rap. Others say stop playing oldies,” Ward said with a smile. “You wouldn’t believe how passionate people are about the music.”

That wide range of opinions reflects something UVA embraces: this is a place for everyone.

“Whether you’re a student, a family, or a long-time fan, we want you to feel like this is your gameday, too.”

Come See What the Hype Is About

Virginia opens its season this Saturday against Coastal Carolina, and it’s the perfect opportunity to check out what’s new at Scott Stadium. From fresh concessions to improved crowd flow and a family-friendly atmosphere, there’s more reason than ever to come out and cheer on the Hoos.

And with discounted tickets available and a price point for nearly every budget, the experience is more accessible than ever.

“Whether you're here for the football, the food, or just the energy — we want you here,” Ward said.

The lights will be on, the team will be ready, and Scott Stadium will be buzzing. All that’s missing is you. Pack Scott! Go Hoos!
