Famous in Our Own Minds: Pick ’Em Week 6

It’s been a rough stretch for The Cavalier Connection pick ‘em crew. The podcast panel took one on the chin last week, going a combined 2–7. Jay and Jeff both scratched out a 1–2 mark, while Jack endured a brutal 0–3 showing that sent him searching for the nearest panic button. But just like any good team after a tough loss, it’s all about the bounce back. Through five weeks, Jay leads the pack at 8–7, Jeff sits a game behind at 7–8, and Jack brings up the rear at 5–10. The good news? If you’ve been betting against Jack’s picks, you’re probably driving something nice right now. There may be big money in just fading the man himself! Let’s see if the guys can turn the tide in Week 6.

Jay’s Picks

Lions (+2.5) at Chiefs

Jay’s loyalty to Detroit runs deep — and he’s not backing down now. “Give me the Lions and the points, no matter against who, no matter where.” With Jared Goff slinging it and that offensive line mauling people, Jay’s rolling with Dan Campbell’s crew to bite some kneecaps at Arrowhead.

Rams (-7.5) at Ravens

With Lamar Jackson sidelined and Baltimore’s defense in shambles, Jay’s putting his faith in Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua. Expect L.A. to move the ball at will and make this one ugly early. “Stafford and Puka are going to destroy the Ravens,” Jay says confidently.

Titans at Raiders — Under 41.5

Sometimes you just have to bet the misery. Both these teams struggle to score, and Jay’s seeing a field-goal-fest coming. “It’s a low number, but when it’s 10–3 at halftime, you’ll be glad you’re on the under,” he says.

Jeff’s Picks

Dolphins (+4.5) vs. Chargers

The Chargers’ injury list looks like a CVS receipt — the O-line’s depleted, the running backs are banged up, and now they’re traveling cross-country to face a team that can actually score. Jeff’s not overthinking this one: “4.5 is just too many points on the road.”

Jaguars (-1.5) vs. Seahawks

After a statement Monday night win over the Chiefs, Trevor Lawrence and the Jags look to keep rolling. Jeff’s betting on momentum and home-field edge to carry them past Sam Darnold and the Seahawks.

Bills (-4.5) at Falcons

Atlanta’s coming off a bye, but Buffalo’s coming off an embarrassing loss to the Patriots — and that anger matters. “Anger trumps rest,” Jeff says. He’s riding with Josh Allen and the Bills to make a statement in the ATL.

Jack’s Picks

Steelers (-5.5) vs. Browns

Jack’s trusting the Terrible Towels to make life miserable for Cleveland rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel. He thinks the Steelers’ offense does just enough to cover in a low-scoring rivalry game that stays true to its gritty roots.

Colts (-7.5) vs. Cardinals

After rolling past the Raiders last week, Jack’s riding Indy’s momentum. With Kyler Murray’s status uncertain, he’s betting on the Colts and (gulp) Daniel Jones to keep it going. “After possibly the worst loss of the NFL season, the Cards will get trounced in Indy,” he says. “It’ll be ‘dope,’ as the Cards coach likes to say!”

Lions at Chiefs — Under 52.5

Yes, another Lions pick, but Jack’s going the other way on the total. “It’s a big number,” he admits. “Expect both offenses to get theirs — just not that much.” He predicts a close call that stays just under the total, the kind of game that has you sweating the final drive.

After a humbling 2–7 week, the Famous in Our Own Minds crew is due. Maybe this is the turnaround. Maybe it’s another disaster. Either way, the entertainment’s free — and the banter’s priceless.

Who are you tailing this week? Or better yet… who are you fading? 👀
